Hailee Gordon is a Senior on the Woodford County Lady Jackets Varsity basketball team. This is her fifth year on the High School team and her twelfth year playing basketball as a whole. Though it is her final year of High School basketball, she won’t stop there.
Gordon is committed to Berea College to continue her academic and athletic career for the next four years. As Hailee says, “My motivation (to play) is my family because I want to make them proud.” She has been playing for them since she was just five years old, she can’t wait to continue making them proud throughout college.
During the high school season, Gordon and her team either have two hour practices or a game, six days a week. Hailee’s day often consists of waking up and going to school, watching film with the team, then having practice or a game, and going to the trainer to recover and take care of her body. After that, she wraps up her night by eating dinner, doing homework, and going to bed to do it all over again tomorrow. The High School season starts in October and ends in, hopefully, March. But the girls condition and workout all year long.
During the off season Gordon is active in track & field, which helps her stay on top of her conditioning and training for basketball season.
Throughout her Senior year, Gordon has focused on reaching team goals before she graduates. She has been working hard and aspires to become the 2026 District Player of the Year and is working to lead her team to the District Championship. She enjoys having the opportunity to play with her friends and values her time with her team as her favorite part of basketball. Gordon accredits her team’s success to the hard work and practice that they put in to prepare for games and hopefully Districts this season.
Gordon hit 1000 points this season, which she highlights as her proudest moment playing for the Woodford County Lady Jackets. But a close second is the pride that she has when playing for her family.
Hailee has exciting plans for her basketball career, and Woodford County Lady Jackets has prepared her well. Woodford County wishes her the best of luck as she continues her career at Berea and can’t wait to see the things she will accomplish.
