Dance Gold took place at the Woodford County High School Gym on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 5-11pm. Dance Gold is a six hour dance marathon where students participate in activities like 9-square, crafts, lots of dancing, and no sitting or sleeping.
Dance Gold is an annual fundraiser for Pediatric Cancer hosted by NHS and Beta at WCHS. The goal is to raise as much money as possible to support families through the funding of medical research, scholarships, and assisting with day-to-day expenses.
The event is based on Dance Blue—University of Kentucky’s 24-hour dance marathon that raises money for the Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic and will support research at the UK Markey Cancer Center. Dance Blue will take place from 8pm on Saturday, April 18, through 8pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Currently, the specific location of Dance Blue is being kept as a surprise.
Participating students learned a line dance at the beginning of the night and would perform it once every hour until 11pm. This year’s theme was titled Around The World and every sponsor club was assigned a different continent. NHS & Beta was North America, FFA was Australia, Y-Club was Asia, FCCLA was Europe, and GEMS was Africa. Each club created a playlist based on their continent to put on during their time as well as themed activities.
By the end of the night, the amount of money donated totaled $5,445! WCHS is so grateful for everyone who contributed to make this event happen. If you want to help make a difference and have fun, be sure to sign up for Dance Gold next year to help reach a cure!
