Tomadachi Life: Living The Dream has just been released and it’s fantastic. For those out of the loop, Tomadachi Life is a simulation game similar to The Sims where you create Miis and let them live life, make friends, and interact with one another. After a hard push by fans for over a decade, Nintendo finally gave in and gave us a new game for the Switch and Switch 2. I immediately got to experiencing it and what a game it has been.
The main selling point about Tomadachi Life is the Miis and how they interact. In Living The Dream, the interactions have been greatly changed in the best way possible. Now, the Miis conversations feel genuine, yet still funny. One of the best changes is that now, when introducing two Miis, you can give them something custom to talk about.
When creating Miis, they added a lot of new features. Most notably, they added the face paint system from Miitopia, which allows for basically anything to become a Mii. Along with this, they added the ability to create miis that aren’t straight which is both inclusive and allows for some great love triangles.
One of the best parts however, is the palette house. This new addition allows players to make anything that comes to mind. As long as you can draw it, it can be food, a treasure, a pet, etc. The only limit is your creativity and your drawing ability.
The beauty of this game can be summarized in one specific interaction I saw on my island. At night, two of my islanders got together at around midnight to frolic next to the fountain before proceeding to have a meeting about, “Maintaining the Agenda”. This game is an experience and I heavily recommend it.
