Everybody is scared of the future after high school, right? Once it’s over, most students start to view the world through a more adult adjective. After high school you either know what you’re going to do or you don’t. If you don’t know what you want to do, then you have to figure it out fast. You’re supposed to know what you want to do before you graduate. Some people know what they want to do when they get into high school. Other people know what they want to major in and know what career they want to pursue, but many don’t have a clue what they want to do.
College can be scary for some people, especially fresh out of high school. For students heading to college, they might be scared and nervous about going to college and being by themselves, but the ones that graduate and say “I’m just going to take one year off,” because taking time away can make it harder to return to school. There are some that will say they’re not going because it’s too expensive or it’s not worth their time and they don’t need it. Some students who say, “I don’t need to go to college,” may feel that way because they didn’t fully engage in school or take advantage of the education offered to them in K-12. The ones who actually paid attention in school will most likely go to college, get a degree, and get a good job.
I know I’ve always wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse since I was in middle school, and even before that I knew I wanted to go to college. I want to go to nursing school in Atlanta and complete all four years of nursing school at Clark University. Being a labor and delivery nurse is my dream because I love taking care of babies. The nursing/L& D career plan has always been one of my goals that I wanted to achieve after high school.
What matters most is graduating high school and going to college even if it can be scary; we all feel the same way about going to college straight out of high school. During all 4 years of high school you’re ready for college, but after you walk the stage at graduation you get scared. It can feel like your freshman year of high school all over again when you get to college. It normally takes time to get used to, but you’ll be fine once you get comfortable with it. Once you’re comfortable getting around campus and finding everything, it’ll feel just like high school all over again only better because you’re on your own.
