Christmas Traditions are an important part of the holiday season because it brings together families, friends, and communities through activities hosted by the town creating lasting memories. Me and my family spend time together at the downtown parade watching the floats go down the street and drinking hot coco every year. Traditions vary from one household to another and many people look forward to their families’ Christmas traditions that make the Christmas season special.
One of the most common traditions is decorating the house, setting up the big tree, and adding the lights and ornaments and putting either a star or an angel on top of the tree. Gift giving is another special tradition in this holiday season. Some people spend time choosing presents all year round and then there are some who are last minute shoppers. Some families allow presents to be opened on Christmas Eve and others wait until Christmas day. With the gift giving comes the Christmas dinners where families gather around the dining table and eat ham, turkey, stuffing, and desserts to top it all off. Allowing the families to enjoy quality time together and to develop a deeper connection every holiday season.
Many Christmas traditions aren’t just inside their homes but town communities often host holiday parades, light displays, and charity events that encourage to help families in need. Such as the program angel tree where you pick a tag and buy gifts for children or teens who might not get much for christmas which allows kindness to spread throughout the community.
Attending religious services on Christmas Eve is often a meaningful tradition to most people who celebrate on the more religious side. Other activities include watching classic christmas movies, baking treats, singing carols, or reading holiday stories adding to the joy and comfort of the season. What makes these Christmas traditions so special is the way they bring people and families together to celebrate the holiday and to bring communities together and to feel connected during the holiday season.
