Addie Moore has recently won TWO National Championships representing none other than Woodford County High School! Competing in Boston, Addie placed first in the mile and the 800 meter. This is an incredible accomplishment for Addie Moore and the school she was representing, Woodford County.

So, we decided to catch up with Addie to discuss her recent accomplishments:

How did you train before the race? Like a “day in the life”

The week of the race I usually do about 1-2 hard workouts depending on when the race is. These workouts usually consist of a Tempo workout which would be like 800 repeats. Doing those workouts before a race helps me to still do a great workout before the race, but not tire myself out the week of the race. The days I don’t do a workout, I usually do an easy run of 4,5, or 6 miles to help me recover after the workout and sometimes have 4 or 6×100 meter strides after as well. Then the day before the race I do an easy 3 mile run with 4×100 meter strides and one 300. These few speed exercises help get my legs moving the day before a race without tiring me out too much.

How did it feel to win TWO National Champion titles?

Winning two National Freshman Titles feels super exciting! It has helped install some confidence in myself as well. I’m

so lucky to have had such an amazing support system and of course I would not have this talent if God hadn’t given it to me in the first place.

Are there any races you are currently training for?

I am currently focused on outdoor season track and am working towards the Dream Mile Race, as well as Eastern Relays and State. I am also trying to take one race at a time because each invitational and race has its own importance.

Outdoor track season has just recently started and the WCHS track team has BIG PLANS for this season. Come out and support our track team’s road to state!
