Stinger Singers Have First Performance

Woodford County High School has had the opportunity to welcome their first a cappella groups this year, the Honeybees, Mellowjackets, and the Stingers. We’ve had regular choir groups before, but this is a new experience.

This article, though, we’ll focus on the Stingers, who had their first performance on October 21st at St. Luke Methodist Church.

I wanted to join the acapella group because I had never gotten the chance to sing really any form of pop music with other people. I also joined because I knew starting out that it would help tune my ear to look out for my entrances and stuff. And I had a lot of thoughts going through my head when we were performing for the first time. I was nervous that I would miss my solo entrance, I was nervous that I was flat on my solo, I was nervous that someone else in the group would miss an entrance to their part. I was just generally pretty nervous. With that being said, however, I think all of us did a really good job with our first performance.

They sang Boyz To Men’s “End Of The Road” in the video above, which was an arrangement composed by Colin Hewitt, one of the members. They also sang “Shosholoza”, which was a combined piece with Franklin County High School, Great Crossing High School and the University of Kentucky Men’s Chorus.
