What is Journey Provisions? If you’ve never heard of it, then picture in your mind a store similar to a Goodwill, but with more outreach locally and cheaper prices. Journey Provisions is a non-profit thrift store that sells really cheap, gently worn items ranging from clothing to furniture, from books to children’s toys. The name comes from the local church that it is tied to: Journey Church. Location-ally, Journey Provisions is a building behind Journey Church on 320 Hope Lane in Versailles, Kentucky.

What Goes on Behind the Scenes?

On the surface level, Journey Provisions is a cheap place to get clothing items, but where does the money go? JP(Journey Provisions) gives back to the community through other organizations and local needs. A few examples are giving to:

Grace’s Closet – collecting formal dresses and shoes for underprivileged teens

Baby Provisions – a diaper closet for moms in need

Dress for Success – a rack providing young men with the clothes they need for job interviews

Disaster Provisions – Collecting household items to use for disaster emergency situations for local families such as house fires and floods

How Can I Get Involved at JP?

Firstly, you could simply go there, find something you like, and buy it. The money you use goes to a good cause. If you were up for it, you could even volunteer any amount of time during the week to sorting clothing and other tasks. Volunteering at Journey Provisions is a great way to give back to the community. What goes on at JP is a great thing, and volunteers to help sort out donations, etc. are always appreciated. If you have any gently used/worn clothing, shoes, gloves, blankets, etc. then you could donate them for others to buy at low cost.
