The Woodford County Boys Tennis Team is nearing the end of its season. They have looked very impressive so far. They have had 9 wins, 2 ties, and 2 losses. The team lineup includes Sophomore Mo Hash, who has been very impressive at 1 singles this year. Juniors Blake Bishop and Sean Williams have also had a lot of success this season. Senior Jackson Pernice has stood out in 2 singles. Junior Gavin Banks is new to the team this year, but has had a great first year. Finally, 8th grader Jackson Johnson has had some great victories this season. The team has 1 final match left before the postseason begins.
The team has had 1 win, 2 ties, and 1 loss in region matches, which is very impressive in an extremely competitive region. This sets up the Woodford County team for some success in the KHSAA Region 8 tournament. Each team will bring 6 players to the Regional Tournament: 2 singles players and 2 doubles teams. In this tournament, reaching the semifinals(last 4 singles players or doubles teams) will advance that player or doubles team to the KHSAA state tournament. In the 2024 season, Blake Bishop and Sean Williams reached the Region 8 doubles tournament quarterfinals, so they have the potential to make it to the state tournament this year. This will be Gavin Banks and Jackson Johnson’s first experience at regionals, and they have high potential to make a run as a team. Mo Hash and Jackson Pernice will also look to make a push for the semifinals in the singles tournament.
Overall, the Woodford Boys Tennis team has had great success this season, even with a smaller roster compared to other schools in the state. This high-performance team has a high chance of achieving success in the Regional tournament.
