Willis ‘Blue Scuti’ Gibson is a tetris prodigy through and through. Tetris was an unbeatable titan as many called it impossible to even get past level 29 which was the theoretical limit due to the intense speed. However within recent years strategies and techniques to surpass level 29 have come and the famous level 157 limit was born. This is because Tetris was never designed to be purposely beaten in this way and it has such strenuous coding limitations it can’t even display past level 18. But on December 21st of just last year Blue Scuti managed to go above and beyond and officially beat Tetris.
His victory came with major challenges due to how Tetris was coded, unlike most games today the developer of Tetris had to seriously consider what he can and cannot do. Due to this Tetris itself starts to break at a certain threshold because it simply cannot keep up with itself. This leads to bright vibrant colors being turned into the most infamous level ‘Charcoal’ as it consists of darker colors that obscure vision. Willis also had to face the overwhelming speed as with each level Tetris gets faster and faster.
Willis became the very first person to ever beat an unbeatable game and his skill should be recognized and seen for anyone not aware of his achievement. Even if you’re not a fan of Tetris or gaming in general I would still recommend seeing explanations or even the original run yourself.
