Avalynne Goins pushes herself during a competition

With winter approaching, it’s time for Woodford winter sports to start taking on the competition. With basketball, wrestling, and swimming going all in, let’s take a look at the swim team. The swim team has a history of incredible performances at state and other meets. With many of the records set and remained unbeaten since the early 2000s. I had an opportunity to talk with current swimmers, Jose Cedillo, and Elijah Martin.

Q: How’s the team looking this year?

A: “It’s looking really good this year, I think we have a good chance to win regionals!”

Q: What are your goals as a team for this season?

A: “Have fun, push each other to become better, do our best, and hopefully win regionals.”

The swim team already competed in 2 events and plans on winning regions this year. The team also has many elite athletes with the potential to win state. For the rest of the season, the jacket journal wishes the swim team the best of luck!
