In Memory of Barbara Bush

Former First Lady and mother to a former president, Barbara Bush passed away in her Houston home on April 17th

On April 17th, Barbara Bush passed away in her home in Houston at the age of 92, after a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is a disease that stops airflow, making it difficult to breathe.

Barbara changed the lives of thousands throughout her life, as she raised over 100 million dollars for her Family Literacy Foundation. This foundation was created to support family literacy in the United States, especially those who have dyslexic family members.

On April 13th, Barbara was admitted to the hospital but decided to choose against medical help and requested she be sent home to rest peacefully. In her final days she was surrounded by her loved ones and continued to be joyful and as lively as she could be. The nation has lost an amazing soul and even though she is gone, her legacy will continue to live on.
