WCHS Students Present Afterthought
An EP recorded by WCHS students
May 7, 2018
A small group of students in the WCHS Art, Design, and Voice class have begun recording an album of cover songs as a sort of final project under the title Afterthought. The album will include several covers of songs such as Californication by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sunshine of Your Love by Eric Clapton, The Boys Boys are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy, and more. The musicians preforming on the album will all be students. The album hopes to be available on all main digital music formats, such as Spotify and iTunes. The musicians playing on the album include Aaron Griffie (11) on drums, Ryan Kraft (12) on bass guitar and lead vocals, Ryan Williams (12) on rhythm guitar, and Cole Romine (12) on lead guitar.
“It has been a really great experience to be able to play with other musicians, and get an opportunity to record songs in a more professional sort of setting,” said Williams. “It can get very stressful trying to learn the songs and then trying to align everyone’s schedules so we can record or practice or whatever, but I think we’re really making something special with all this.” An average recording session takes over four hours to record just a few tracks, although the recording process can be quite taxing, the students all seem very optimistic about the work they’re putting into the album.
” I certainly hope people enjoy this album. It’s really been fun to work on and know that people might actually hear the songs, its pretty unreal,” said Williams. The album is set to be released some time in May in order to have somewhat of a summer release. The album will definitely be available on soundcloud.com, but keep an eye out for it on Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon music.
