Woodford’s Big Winter Show!
December 8, 2017
Woodford County’s Winter choir concert took place on December 5th. Performing were the Hand bell Choir, Concert Choir, Advanced Choir, Mellow Jackets, and the Honeybees. The students performed a variety of Christmas tunes, upbeat spirituals, as well as some traditional songs.
Tyler Clemons (10) performed in the concert choir and described the experience as, “Nerve-racking, but exciting all in one.” Many of the students described the large audience as breathtaking.
“It’s my first year in choir, and it was a little scary to be performing in front of such a large group of people, but I feel like it was a good kick start for me to be able to jump in again next year!” Tyler (10) said after the concert.
This is Carter Martin’s (12) first year in Hand bell, he said, “The hand bell choir worked really hard on this performance, and overall it went pretty well.”
The students left school on Tuesday around 12:00 p.m. and practiced up until the last minute for the performance. Can we say dedication? Many complained of sore throats the next day.
Garrett Garwood (11) has been performing for seven years. “My favorite part of the choir is the bonds that we share together over the passion for singing. Getting up on stage isn’t as scary as everyone thinks, it’s actually a lot of fun to share our talents.”
I attended the concert and all the choirs did very well! The soloists each did a fabulous job and there should also be a big shout out to the wonderful Percussionists: Blake Brooks (UK), Sean Dunn (10), Sean Hopkins (12), Henry Huff (12), Dee White (UK), Connor Akers (11) on the bass guitar, and Blake Brooks (UK) on the drums. I know how much time and effort went into constructing and planning the show, and Mr. Schrimsher did a fabulous job of keeping everything running smoothly.
So, the next time you have the opportunity to see a choir concert, don’t miss out!
