Graduation season is upon us, and with it comes the annual senior festivities that Woodford County High School seniors participate in. Events such as Project Graduation, Senior Elementary Walkthrough, and Senior Breakfast are happening within the next couple of weeks, along with other community events.
Seniors participating in the NHS and/or Beta club will gather in the WCHS auditorium on May 12th at 6 PM. The National Honor Society and Beta club focus on community activism and service; seniors who have completed their required service hours will receive a cord and stole for the graduation ceremony. Senior Honors Night will be held on May 19th in the school gymnasium at 6 PM. At this, seniors will receive recognition for any departmental awards, scholarships, athletic achievements, etc. In addition, seniors will take a field trip to Champs on the 21st.
On May 22nd, a senior breakfast will be held before seniors transport to elementary walkthroughs, where students will walk throughout the elementary school they attended. On the same day, seniors who wish to participate will arrive at the First Baptist Church for the Baccalaureate at 6 PM. Baccalaureates are open to everyone, and they serve as an opportunity to congratulate our seniors in a smaller setting before we graduate.
Following graduation, new graduates will go to Falling Springs Recreational Center for Project Graduation. Project Graduation is an event where graduating seniors stay the night in Falling Springs and compete in games for prizes and money. The project was created to ensure that seniors abstained from drugs and alcohol on graduation night. The community raises funds so that Project Graduation can happen every year, and it is a special tradition.
As the 2025 school year comes to an end, these senior festivities are in full swing. Make sure to congratulate WCHS seniors before the class of 2025 graduates!
