Woodford started this month on Spring Break, which was extended by disastrous flooding that had citizens losing everything. River-side communities were submerged in 48.2 feet of water.
Keeneland Race Track opened two days later than usual due to the catastrophic flooding. Spring meet is a major part of Kentucky culture, and has become the go-to location for senior skip day here at WCHS.
Throughout the state of Kentucky and across the nation protests against President Trump and his administration are on the rise as a response to recent decisions made by leaders in The White House. The 50501 protest movement has specifically taken traction in recent weeks. This movement began on Reddit as a goal to have 50 protests in 50 states in 1 day.
Easter took place on April 20th, 2025. The following morning, Pope Francis died at age 88 of a stroke and heart failure soon after visiting with Vice President J.D. Vance.
30,000 people gathered in Hopkinton, Massachusetts for the 129th Boston Marathon on Apr 21, 2025. The winner of the women’s division was Sharon Lokedi with a time of 2:17:22 for a new course record, and on the men’s side John Korir walked away with the win running a 2:04:45. A week later on 27th Tigst Assefa and Sabastian Sawe won the London Marathon for women and men respectively.
The STLP state competition on April 23rd was very successful for Woodford County students. Alli Johnson won first place in the Multimedia category, and Madeline Shore got second place for her original book cover.
Prom here at WCHS was on April 26th, 2025 with an under the sea theme. Prom king and queen were the newly engaged seniors McKenzie Maney and Braden Lacefeild. Click here to learn more about prom.
