On April 19th, the popular artist and Kentucky native, Tyler Childers, headlined a concert at Kroger Field in Lexington with other Kentucky artists, Wynonna Judd and S.G. Goodman. The concert sold out with around 50,000 people in attendance. Childers also collected flood relief items for the recent flooding in Kentucky.
The opener for the show was Hickman, Kentucky native S.G. Goodman. Her song Space and Time was covered by Tyler Childers on his album Rustin’ in the Rain. The other opener was Wynonna Judd, who came out after a bugler played the call to post. She played all of her single hits and her hits when she was in The Judds with her mother, Naomi. Wynonna Judd was born in Ashland, Kentucky, and performed an unreleased song called “All Downhill from Ashland” about her mother’s life and tragic passing.

Then, Tyler Childers came out and performed for a couple of hours, and did a good job of entertaining the crowd for his entire set. There was a very amusing drone show over the stadium, and if you’ve never seen a drone show, it is a bunch of synchronized drones lighting up and arranging themselves in the sky to form an image or pattern. The main image that was formed by the drone show was a giant rooster.
The big surprise of the show was Childers performing his unreleased song, Jersey Giant. Childers said that this was his first time performing the song with his band in a public venue. This song is notorious for being famous despite Childers not having played the song recently. Some say Childers has not played the song because it is about a former love interest of his who is not his current wife.
In conclusion, the concert was very entertaining and full of surprises.
