Prom night is a milestone event for many high school students—a night filled with excitement, celebration, and unforgettable memories. However, the success of prom doesn’t just depend on the event itself, but also on the planning that leads up to it. Pre-prom plans are critical in ensuring a smooth, safe, and enjoyable evening for everyone involved. Pre-prom planning can actually make the night more fun. When details like music playlists, group photo spots, and restaurant reservations are organized ahead of time, the night flows more smoothly, and everyone can stay focused on enjoying themselves.
During a recent survey conducted on Jacket Journal staff, we got statistics on what exactly everyone is planning to do to further enhance their experience. The following questions were asked:
Are you going to/hosting a prom brunch? 60% yes, 40% no
Are you planning on taking a bouquet/corsage? 80% yes, 20% no
Are you getting ready at your house or a friend’s house? A friend’s house 40%, your house 60%
Are you getting your hair and makeup professionally done? 20% yes, 80% no
Are you getting your pictures professionally done? 80% yes, 20% no

In conclusion, pre-prom is more than just a gathering before the big event—it sets the tone for the entire night. It offers students and families a chance to capture memories, ease into the evening, and celebrate the excitement of prom in a safe and organized way. By bringing people together in a relaxed environment, pre-prom creates a sense of community and ensures that the night starts off on a positive note. Ultimately, it enhances the overall prom experience, making it not just a dance but a meaningful milestone.
