March is just around the corner, which means the beginning of spring sports! Baseball and Softball have already had tryouts, and track and field will hold theirs early in March. Tennis practice has begun, and Lacrosse is getting underway. Everyone is excited for this new chapter of Woodford County High School Spring sports. Softball had their tryouts the same night as baseball at the fields in Woodford County Park, near Falling Springs. They will be having their first scrimmage Saturday March 8th and their second on Tuesday the 11th. The season opening will be on Tuesday, March 18th. The first varsity softball tournament will be at home on Friday March 21 and Saturday March 22nd.
Woodford’s first home varsity baseball game will be on March 13th at the Woodford County Park at 6:00 pm versus Boyle County.
The Varsity Lacrosse team has several away games before they play their first game at Woodford on Friday, April 18th against Tates Creek High School. The Jackets who follow the sports here at WCHS are hoping to see the action continue in this upcoming season after watching the boys lacrosse team win state last year.
Practice for all Woodford Tennis players began Monday, February 10th. Varsity players practice from 4:30-6:00 at Falling Springs, and JV goes from 4:00-5:00. Practices are often subject to cancellations throughout February and March due to unpredictable weather.
