As we’ve moved into the new Woodford County High School, we’ve taken in all the latest features and rooms. The teachers’ rooms have new seating, with large windows, and are overall more modern One thing stands out, however, none of the teachers have clocks in their rooms.
One cannot help but wonder how a teacher’s room doesn’t have a clock. At first, we assumed they had been ordered, but had not yet arrived. As the weeks progressed, however, it became apparent that there would be no clocks. The only explanation was that the clocks were forgotten when ordering supplies. It is not unreasonable to forget to order something when furnishing an entire school, but why are clocks still not ordered three months into the Spring semester? Were clocks not factored into the budget at any point in time? Did they leave no extra wiggle room in the budget for necessities? These questions have not been answered.
Some teachers have bought clocks and nailed them to the wall themselves, while others still are without one. While not having a clock isn’t a colossal issue, it is obvious that there is little intention to get clocks into classrooms. The only hope for teachers to have a clock is when the ACT comes around; all rooms will be required to have a clock for testing.
Overall, there is little to no reason for classrooms. There should have been a place in the budget to begin with. Hopefully, this situation will be rectified with ACT coming up.
