On January 24th, 2025, the Woodford County student section was awarded the best football student section in central Kentucky for the past season. The students accepted the award at the Jacketfest Basketball against Martha Layne Collins High School. In the brand-new gymnasium, a new banner hangs. They won the first-ever FOX 56 Home Team Hype Award. Junior Football player Carson Bugg was interviewed by FOX 56 and said when asked about the student section, “It’s great to get this award, I can feel the hype on Friday nights when we took the field, the student section going crazy, and now to be a part of it in the basketball season, it really shows how special this team is.” As a student, I feel like Woodford County’s student section creates a completely different environment. The student section is also very creative with great themes such as Western, USA, and Blackout. FOX 56 is also awarding the best student section for basketball games which Woodford County hopes to win.
The energy and passion of the Woodford County student section extend far beyond football season. Students come together to support their peers in all sorts of events, from basketball to girls’ soccer, boys’ soccer, and even baseball. Athletes seeing their peers support them from the stands can positively impact the teams. A loud and energetic student section can bring a whole new environment to a game. I encourage every student to come out and support the Yellow Jackets Basketball team at Anderson County High School for the upcoming district tournament games.
