Walking into the new school, students got a refreshing feeling as they made their way to class. The bright lighting and the scent of the brisk air fills us with excitement to begin a new chapter of our lives. Despite the controversy between parking and phone rules, everyone at the new school seems to be in good spirits and adjusting to the change really well.
Through gathering information from my classmates, I have learned that many people miss the old school but are happy that we switched halfway through the year. At the new WCHS, classrooms in specialized areas such as fccla, engineering, agriculture, music, and media have far more resources. Overall, this makes it a better environment for students to learn in, giving them opportunities to learn and do things they would not have been able to do in the old school and have been restricted in their journey to reach their full academic potential.
As a community, we have a lot of work to do to make this feel like our new home. Our goal must be to bring the soul of the old WCHS and insert it in a new building that brings us unlimited opportunity for decades to come. It’s a change that was long overdue and deserved within the community and students can’t wait to take advantage of the new opportunities we have been given.
