Recently it was announced that Mr. Adkins, the superintendent of Woodford County public schools, is retiring. In an interview he talked a little bit about his experiences and what he plans to do moving forward.
One of the reasons he has decided to retire is because he has a grandson on the way and he wants to make time for his family. He also feels that he has accomplished what he set out to do when he took the job. With the new building almost complete and a move impending he decided that it was the right time for him to step back from the position. While he will be spending time with his family he will also be spending some time fishing and relaxing while enjoying retirement. He did say that he isn’t completely cut off from working in the schools and he intends to have some involvement with the school system in Eastern Kentucky.
When asked if he had a worst memory in his time working for the school system he said he could honestly say that he didn’t and that he loved every moment of his job and he hopes that the person who replaces him will as well. He wants whoever his replacement will be will care about the students, teachers and the community as much as he does.
Though he is sad to leave he knows that he did his best for Woodford County and that the schools will hold a special place in his heart forever.
