On November 16, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson had their highly anticipated professional boxing bout, and fans worldwide claimed the fight was purely scripted. Most people believe this is due to Mike Tyson’s performance in the fight after posting training videos showing him training much harder than Jake Paul. Many fans believe that the boxing bout was scripted, and many people are upset that Mike Tyson’s training videos had been going so well that it was hard to believe that Mike Tyson could have lost.
Mike Tyson has a history when it comes to boxing, achieving his title of ‘Iron Mike Tyson’. He is a heavyweight boxer who rose to stardom in 1980, which caused him to be the youngest world champion at age 20. Even though setbacks like legal issues and controversial losses were in place, he remains a legend in the boxing world. Many people thought Mike Tyson would beat Jake Paul, thus causing people to believe the fight was scripted. However, there are a couple of factors as to why this was bound to happen, and why the fight was not scripted.
For starters, there is a huge difference in age between Paul and Tyson. Tyson is 58, whereas Paul is 28. During the fight, you could see Tyson’s age catching up to him, even though Tyson did show skill, it was still an issue. He was not moving well, showing his age. Second, nobody had taken into account that Paul could’ve been training even harder than Tyson, and just simply not posting about it. Both of these create a new ground for the script rumors.
So, while there could have been a script, why would a heavyweight world champion such as Tyson ruin his reputation? Why would he not try to win? This brings us to a final answer, the Paul and Tyson fight has a much higher chance of not being scripted, as Tyson is a boxing legend, but a senior citizen, clearly holding him back in the fight. However, Paul is 28, and just now getting started.
