On Saturday, September 21st, the Woodford County High school color-guard team won second place with overall best score. They performed a fun and amazing routine overall. It is keen to honor all sport related accomplishments here at Woodford county, so let’s go over that of this team here at the high school.
To begin we shall highlight the routine itself and what it looked like overall. The routine involved frog costumes, which featured purple and green, with bubble braids. There were three songs that were played during the routine which were Jump, Welcome to the Jungle, and I Can Feel It in the Air. On top of that, it featured fun colored flags to go along with the routine. There are two types of flags. There is one called swing flags, which are the smaller ones, and they had blue with silver sparkles or dots. Then there were the regular flags which were bigger and these flags were purple and green with fern leaves and hints of blue.
The event took place in Taylor County, which is located in the middle of the state of Kentucky. The aforementioned overall ranking of the team was second place and overall best score. The team rocked it out of the park — or should we say jumped it out of the park. After interviewing some girls from the color-guard team, they described the event as fun, however trying. This shows all the hard work of the team and their effort and dedication overall. For instance Molly Evans, a Freshman here at Woodford county high school, and a member of the color-guard team said, “The routine was tiring, we were up until 12, in which we arrived back at school.” Now if that is not true hard work and dedication, then I don’t know what is. Another person I interviewed; Alyssa Mattox, a Freshman here at Woodford county and a member of the color guard team said, “Competitions always get you nervous no matter who you are or what grade you are in, but Woodford county color guard as well as the marching band know how to make competitions as fun as they can. All of our competitions so far have been a great experience for me especially coming into high school not knowing a lot of people. Overall our competitions and our last one was the most fun one I had in a while .” I have personally seen her excitement and hard work when it comes to color-guard, and I can’t imagine all of the other girls who work just as hard. Overall these members of our color-guard team here at Woodford County have worked really hard and are continuing to even after their win. For instance, I talked to Alyssa Mattox yesterday and she was telling me about her practice from 1:00-8:30. These members are working really hard and put in true dedication that deserves to be highlighted. This includes their long hours and the creativity of the routines in themselves. Today we highlight their best overall score. We honor Woodford county and we honor the honest and hard work of the color-guard team. Great Work!!
