‘’Im Peppa Pig, this my little brother George, this is Mommy Pig, and this is Daddy Pig.’’ In case you did not know Peppa Pig is a kid’s show, but it does not exclude older kids from watching. Students from WCHS or WCMS may be familiar with it, whether from watching as a kid or watching now. If wanting to learn more about Peppa Pig or just love it in general keep reading, for your in for a huge puddle or in peppa terms a muddy puddle.
This muddle puddle begins with the background information of Peppa Pig, but don’t worry about it being boring because you’re in for a treat. According to a blog on Google discussing the history of Peppa Pig; https://blog.paultonspark.co.uk/, ‘’ The first ever episode of Peppa Pig aired on 31 May 2004. The show was originally aired on Channel Five.’’ This means that we may or may not have watched Peppa Pig as a kid, since most of us were born after 2004. This information tells us that the show in itself is 20 years old and like said in the blog, ‘’ has grown to popularity since’’. The same blog mentions that, ‘’Peppa Pig was created by Astley Baker Davies; an independent animation studio based in London, owned by Peppa pig co-creators and producers Neville Astley, Mark Baker, and Phil Davis.’’ Although it may not be of importance to know who made the show, without these people the show would not exist so we must give credit where credit is due. Lastly, in case it was in the mind of others according to that blog above, ‘’The first person to voice Peppa Pig was four-year-old actress Lily Snow-den Fine.’’ Why is this important exactly? Well according to the blog, there have been multiple people who have played Peppa Pig so it is hard to know whether or not who was the first but as stated the OG is Lily herself. All in all Peppa Pig is a fairly new but old show, plus it has some great creators and actresses.
Continuing with this journey, why watch cartoons? According to the article, Teens New Comfort; Kids Cartoon on the Student Newspaper https://thegrizzlygazette.org/, ‘’ Watching cartoons benefit teens in so many ways such as escaping from reality, childhood trauma, anxiety, and even for educational purposes.’’ As said above cartoons, although mainly meant for kids, can be an escape for us teens and teens all around the world; for like said in the article ‘’it is a popular show in many countries,’’ overall proving that watching cartoons is good for you the majority of the time and you should if it’s an interest. The same article in the same newspaper mentioned earlier in this paragraph said that, ‘’Children’s shows always end with a happy full-circle ending.’’ They even later go on to mention the fact of how, ‘’ In shows targeted towards adults, conflicts are complex and have a huge effect on plot,’’ this shows that most teenage or adult shows only make our emotions worse because they have complex emotions in the shows themselves. It was also revealed in the article that, ‘’ …There can be connections that can be made when watching the shows from connection to the story or the characters…’’ This information shows the connection teens have when it comes to shows and sometimes adult shows have complex emotions which does not help struggling teens, however, like said cartoons tend to be different from that. Overall what can be taken is that cartoons are good for you.
Moving on to our main cartoon of the day though; which is Peppa Pig and why we should watch this cartoon in particular, the website https://peppapigworld.co.uk/ gives us some info on Peppa Pig. Here are some interesting things about the show that will make you want to watch. ‘’Peppa Pig and her family live in the, ‘’little house on the hill,’’ at 3 Astley Street in Peppa Town. It is a hilly canal not far from London.’’ How is this supposed to make you want to watch Peppa Pig? Well, Peppa Pig is based in London meaning you will have the chance to learn about a new culture. Going along with this, you will get to know more about the culture of London, according to https://blog.paultonspark.co.uk is their article about the background history of Peppa Pig, ‘’ The first two series of Peppa Pig were re-dubbed with American actors but since 2007 the series has been shown with the original British soundtrack in the US.’’ Well, mate wasn’t that fun? Since most of the episodes of Peppa Pig are in the British soundtrack form you get to hear the show with the fun accents which makes watching this cartoon fun. If that is not enough let’s see what a fellow student has to say about Peppa Pig and why you should watch the show, ‘’ My opinion on Peppa Pig is that Peppa Pig is awesome.’’ Says Makena Elis, a fellow student, who shows that fellow students here in Woodford County and WCHS watch and enjoy Peppa Pig.
To end this rainy day why not give a muddy load down on everything discussed? Overall Peppa Pig is a great show that has been around for a very long time, to add on watching cartoons in general is good for teens, and Peppa Pig is a fun cartoon overall to watch which is verified by fellow students. So as you finish reading, I hope you go out and give this show a try. Overall cartoons are the best but the best in the village is Peppa Pig and her show.
