Kentuckys football season started off optimistic as Kentucky landed a former 5 star quarterback from the University of Georgia in Brock Vandergriff this offseason. As well as returning future 1st round pick Defensive Tackle Deone Walker who is a nightmare for opposing offensive lines. The season started off strong after a wacky game VS Southern Miss. In which there was a 2 hour lightning delay before the game. The game didnt start until 10:30 Saturday night. Following halftime 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter the game was delayed yet again. After 45 minutes of discussing what they should do Southern Miss and Kentucky decided to call it giving Kentucky the win 31-0. Following this game was arguably the most important game of the year which was a South Carolina team who had struggled to beat Old Dominion but ended up winning barely 23-19 in which it took 2 fumbles in the 2nd half for them to end up winning. This was Kentucky biggest game of the year because most called it “The Swing game” This is one of Kentuckys hardest football schedules ever as they play 4 of the top ten teams in the country including 3 of those on the road. This was a very frustrating game as Kentuckys offensive line was horrific and gave the offense never a chance as South Carolinas pass rush was in the backfield before Vandergriff could go through his progression overall it was a very disappointing game as it ended up being 31-6 as the final score. Now the path doesnt get any easier at all as they play the number 1 ranked team in the country the Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday the game is at home but even being competitive will be hard to do as Georgia is by far the best team in the country.
