This year’s school production was the oh so fetch musical, Mean Girls! I interviewed Greta Lloyd, dance ensemble, and Harper Brady, who played Mrs. George. Shout out to all the incredible performers and Ms. Hogg for the amazing performance, if you had the pleasure of watching the show you would know how amazing it was and how well it was put together.
In the interview with Greta Lloyd and Harper Brady, I asked ” What was one of your favorite memories or experiences from working with the cast? “
“ One of my favorite memories from working with the cast was making a new group of friends I could be myself around! Everyone was so kind and it was such an amazing experience.“ Lloyd said.
“Mean Girls was such a fun show with many good moments behind the scenes. Although it’s difficult to choose a favorite, I would have to say my favorite moment was before our first tech run when everyone was getting ready. There was a nervous energy in the dressing room but overpowering that was a deep sense of connection between all the girls. We were ready to put together what we had worked so hard over three months to create. And I was so proud of everyone’s dedication and hard work. “ Brady replied.
I proceeded to ask Greta Lloyd about her dancing experience.“ How long have you been dancing? What is your favorite style of dance that you do?”
“I have been dancing since I was two years old and my favorite styles of dance are tap and musical theatre. “ Lloyd said.
Harper is such an amazing actress, so I wanted to ask about all of her previous acting roles. “ How many years have you been acting? How many roles have you played?”
“ I have been acting since I learned to read. I had a great elementary school music teacher, Erin Casimir, that really harnessed my passion for singing and it just developed as I got older. I have previously been Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Annie in Annie, 2-year member of WTYA, Lucille in Junie B. Jones The Musical, Josephine Bloom in Big Fish, Mrs. George in Mean Girls, etc. ” replied Brady.
“ What encouraged you to audition for the role? Why that character?”.
“ I had been a big fan of Mean Girls the musical for years, so when the directors chose this show I knew I had to audition. I originally auditioned for Karen but then when I read the script for Ms. George I knew instantly that she was a better fit for me. I was so grateful when the cast list came out and I saw that I had gotten the role I wanted, although I would have been happy with anything. “ replied Brady.
“ A few of my friends encouraged me to audition and since they knew I danced, they thought I should audition for the featured dancer in the show. “ replied Lloyd.
Thank you Greta Lloyd and Harper Brady for doing this interview and you all did an amazing job in the show.
