March madness is finally here
What is March madness?: The NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament, branded as March Madness, is a single-elimination tournament played in the United States to determine the men’s college basketball national champion of the Division I level.
March Madness is the fun where all basketball teams at the D1 (Division one) level all get to compete for a chance to be able to go and win a national championship for their school programs. It is one of the most interesting sports because of the upsets and the close games that go down to the last second down the stretch.
The most likely to win March madness as of right now are the Uconn huskies. The Huskies finished the regular season at 28-3, with only two teams managing to eclipse 80+ points against the defending champs. After thumping Xavier 87-60 on Thursday and taking out St. John’s 95-90, UConn took down No. 10 Marquette to claim its first Big East title since 2011. So far, so good in the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies opened March Madness with an easy 91-52 throttling of Stetson before topping Northwestern 75-58 in a game that wasn’t even as close as the final score suggested. Connecticut had a 40-18 lead at the half and didn’t need to keep its foot on the gas down the stretch.
The Huskies will get their first real test of the tournament when they face San Diego State in the Sweet 16.
