Game Recap
On Sunday, February 11th, the AFC Champions the Kansas City Chiefs, and the NFC Champions the San Francisco 49ers faced off against each other in the biggest game in American sports. After being down 10-3 at halftime, and tying the game to send it overtime, Superbowl MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs sent the 49ers home in a thriller to win the Superbowl. The halftime show, which many anticipated, was enjoyed by most. Usher, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Lil John all performed and most people enjoyed the nostalgic songs that were played.
Although they lost…
Although the Chiefs won, and Patrick Mahomes had an electric game, the 49ers offense (and defense in the first half) also played a fantastic game. Starting quarterback Brock Purdy threw for 255 yards with 23 completions and had one touchdown. Their all-pro running back, Christian McCaffrey, had 80 yards on 22 rushes and had 80 reception yards on 8 catches. In the first half of the game, the defense had 1 interception and held the Chiefs to 3 points. But, all went downhill as Mahomes decided to take over and ultimately win the Lombardi for his team.
Mahomes’ amazing game and legacy talk
With this win, many already believe that Mahomes is now the second-greatest quarterback of all time. He beat one of the best defenses in the NFL, completed 34 passes with 333 yards, threw 2 touchdowns and only 1 interception, and rushed for 66 yards on 9 carries. This earned him his 3rd Superbowl MVP. On top of this, he already has 6 Pro Bowl selections, 2 all-pro selections, and 2 league MVPs. With 28424 yards in just 96 games, Mahomes is on pace to have the best stats a quarterback can.
