Whether it is a sweltering 116 degrees or a brisk 50 degrees, Sedona, Arizona, is the perfect getaway. Known for its vibrant red rocks and vast open landscapes, It has something for everyone. Various hikes, shops, restaurants, and more are located in this unique town. No matter what time of year you visit, there are many exciting things to experience. Beautiful views surround the area with flourishing foliage and serene mountain tops. Sedona is a bucket list location and will most definitely satisfy its visitors.
Shops
First, the selection of stores and boutiques in Sedona provides excellent activities for more relaxed travelers. Several distinctive browsing locations are offered, from an art village to souvenir shops.
The Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village offers the most unique shopping experience in the Southwest. In addition to art galleries and shops, Tlaquepaque’s breathtaking architecture is inspired by a traditional Mexican village and is shaded by towering sycamore trees. Various handmade items are offered within the town’s walls, including fine and authentic Native jewelry, rugs, clothing, shoes, and more. In addition to the shops, multiple restaurants and cafes are present throughout the village; my favorite is the Chai Spot, which offers authentic chai and biscuits and an intricately decorated interior. The beauty of the grounds and the specialty shops makes this a ¨must see¨ while visiting Sedona.
Along with the art village, multiple shopping centers are scattered throughout Sedona. In Uptown, Matterhorn Shoppes Inc. is the perfect place to find souvenirs and gifts to keep as mementos of your trip. In addition, several small businesses sell items with a unique Arizona feel.
Hikes
In addition to beautiful shops, everywhere you turn in Sedona, there is a trailhead, and for people seeking adventure and looking to connect with nature, there are several gorgeous hiking trails to explore.
Out of the many hikes I have completed in Sedona, this was the most beautiful, rewarding, and diverse. Located on the outskirts of the town, Bell Rock makes a perfect trip for any age and skill level. There are several levels to the trail. For more reserved hikers, a beautiful experience is to be had at the base of the rock. An impressive view of the rock and its many dark red and orange layers can be seen there. For the more advanced (or adventurous), there are several ways to come close to being on the top of Bell Rock by just free climbing. Wherever your hike takes you, luscious greenery and Sedona’s signature red rocks will be seen.
These are not the only alluring trails, though. Other hikes like Snoopy Rock,
Airport Vortex, Teacup, Birthing Cave, and Sugarloaf also offer unforgettable views and experiences.
Food
A massive part of the Sedoninan culture is good food. While visiting, some must-try places, from casual to formal, will leave you wanting more. Three places come to mind if you are looking for a fine dining experience. Mariposa, The Hudson, and The Golden Goose all offer a charming atmosphere and great food. On the other hand, if a quick (but delicious) bite to eat is all you are looking for, Sedona’s also got your back. Hot Dog Bob’s, Mooney’s Irish Pub, and Burger Bar have a more laid-back feel and make a perfect lunch spot.
Sedona, Arizona, has many unique sights, activities, and restaurants you will never tire of. Whether you plan to visit in the summer or winter, you will be blown away by the beauty surrounding you. Whether hiking or drinking a spicy chai, have fun and safe travels!
