What is WCHSD?
The Woodford County High School Democrats Club is one of the newer clubs at the high school this year. Anyone from the high school can join. We meet during HIVE on Thursdays usually at least twice a month. We talk about the latest news, the importance of voting, and encouraging others to vote, among many other things. WCHSD is a part of the High School Democrats of America. (HSDA).
What is HSDA?
High School Democrats of America (HSDA) is a national political organization that serves as an entry point to Democratic politics for youth activists nationwide. HSDA is entirely student-run, and dedicated members have the chance to open new doors through their involvement in projects and events.
Recognized as the largest and the official Democratic high school organization in the country, HSDA dedicates its time to three primary sectors of engagement: informing, participating, and organizing. They engage students to become active within the political system, advocate within their communities, and elect Democratic candidates to public office. By creating a broad platform for youth involvement in politics across the country, HSDA is shaping the future leaders of the Democratic party.
I decided to join the Democrats Club mainly to meet people who I shared my political beliefs with. I feel like the Republicans and Democrats are very divided but I feel like encouraging people to vote for what they believe and support is very important.
