As the world goes on many things change, things that were here on Earth in the past are no longer here now, and things that were not here then are now here on Earth now. Things have changed for the better of the Earth while others came for the worse. Electronics is basically the world right now. If you want to talk to someone you don’t have to drive to them or meet them up–you simply call them on the phone. If you want to see news about an event that took place you do not have to wait for the newspapers to come in–you simply log into safari (Google) and search for what you want to see.
There are many pros and cons towards having the Internet, but before we address those we need to know what the internet really is–a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols. The internet is the face of the Earth but what was life like before then?
Before the internet existed people had to create their own paths to survive and it was not always easy. When summer time came around every year kids had to entertain themselves by doing outdoor activities like playing kickball with all the kids who lived in their neighborhood. According to this article from The Guardian, Social Science calls the people born in the late 70s as the last of the “innocent.” They believe that the Internet did more harm to the brain than good so people who were born in the 70s and early 80s are referred to as the “last of the innocent”.
When it comes to the benefits of the Internet, the list can go on and on for hours, so many people have survived something horrible that happened to a person. Just a simple phone call is what saved the lives of many. A man was swimming in the ocean when he suddenly got pushed out by the overpowering waves. Luckily he was able to call the police and get rescued just because he had an Apple Watch to call for help. If it wasn’t for a simple device, he definitely would have unfortunately died.
There can be cons to the Internet too. There is much more exposure and little kids can watch whatever they want just by a simple search bar and cyberbullying becomes a problem. Therefore, if you were to think about everything that has happened in the past and going to happen in the future was the internet being created a good thing or a bad thing?
