Where to Watch ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas Story’ this Holiday Season
‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ will be available for free on Apple TV from December 22nd to the 25th.
In our household, it has been a generational tradition to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas on every Christmas day. From my great-grandparents to my little cousins, what feels like our whole family gathers in my grandparents’ living room to watch the nostalgic TV special from 1965.
What most do not know, however, is that A Charlie Brown Christmas originated from a newspaper comic strip in the 1950s, titled Peanuts. Created by Charles M. Schulz, Peanuts captivated readers worldwide. CBS decided to pick up on the popularity in 1965, by airing a television special created by Schulz himself. Since then, A Charlie Brown Christmas has aired on live TV every Christmas from 1965 to 2019. When Apple TV acquired the rights to the Peanuts library, however, it was taken off of television. Criticism rightly ensued Apple’s decision which convinced them to allow the public to view the show for free for a short period of time during the holiday season.
