Let It Snow! Let It Snow Let It Snow! WCHS Winter Concert
On December 6, at Versailles Baptist, there was a choir concert with all the WCHS Choir programs. There were 5 programs in total. There were 2 acapella groups (Stinger Singers and Honeybees), Treble Choir, Concert Choir, and Chorale.
This was Treble Choir’s first concert, so Mr. Strickland, the Choir Director was excited to showcase them. They sang a song titled Sisi Ni Moja, and another one titled Oh, Think of Me. They also sang Pie Jesu and Frozen Choral Suite. Sisi Ni Moja is the choir’s favorite piece because it’s so upbeat and there’s some incredible choreography in it.
Chorale sang “Adoramus Te”, “O Oriens”, “Famine Song”, “Have You Seen The Baby”, (their favorite song of the set), and “Let It, Snow! Let It, Snow! Let It, Snow!”.
Concert Choir sang Shenandoah, Carol of the Bells (This is the first time the Concert Choir has ever sung an acapella piece), and Homeward Bound. The audience seemed to really enjoy Carol of the Bells.
The all-girls acapella group, Honeybees, sang “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson. It was the same arrangement as the one performed in Pitch Perfect. Arden Stone was the soloist throughout the piece.
The all-boys acapella group, Stinger Singers, sang “Fine By Me”, originally performed by Andy Grammer, and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, specifically the
Rascal Flatts acapella version. Dawson Akers, one of the Stingers, transcribed and arranged the pieces.
We also had two pieces with the choirs combined; “For This Joy” and “Betelehemu”.
Everyone did a great job, and the concert was really fun to watch! Participating in the concert was a great experience overall!
(A note from Gavin) As a Senior and with it being my final Winter Concert, I’d just like to thank everyone involved with the program. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for WCHS Choirs!
