Trinity Sherrod: Track & Field-Pole Vault
Trinity Sherrod is planning to attend the University of the Cumberland’s and major in Elementary Education.
Trinity Sherrod is a part of the class of 2020 at Woodford County High School. Sherrod has been pole-vaulting for 3 years and the decision was made when her friends had wanted her to join. So how about we get to know Senior athlete Trinity Sherrod?
What is your greatest accomplishment?
I got a PR (personal record) at my 1st meet this year ‘9″6.
What was your fondest memory of playing this sport?
My fondest memory of track is practicing at Fuzion athletics and going to meets with my teammates.
What is your personal goal for this sport?
My personal goal is to jump 10 feet this year.
What foods or drinks help you gear up and stay energized for the game/event?
Gatorade/ protein bars.
What is the best part about competing?
The best part about competing is seeing if I can get a PR and watching other people compete.
What is your favorite sports quote?
“There may be people that have more talent than you, but there´s no excuse for anyone to work hard than you do.”
What emotions do you feel when you play well?
I feel like all my hard work has paid off when I do well.
What do you do to calm your butterflies while you compete?
I just go for it and try not to overthink things and get into my head.
How does athletics make you a better student or worker?
Being an athlete has helped me be a better student by always striving for a goal and having to always work hard. I love playing sport because it keeps me busy and I always have something to do.
What advice would you give your underclassmen?
My advice is it is never too late to start something new because I did gymnastics for 10 years and one day I tried pole vaulting my sophomore year and I loved it.
How has playing this sport affected you for your future?
This sport has affected my future by pole vaulting in college and I’m hoping to make some new PR’s.
Where do you plan on going to school next year? What do you plan on studying?
I´m planning to attend the University of the Cumberland’s and studying Elementary Education.
