Damien Banks (12), is a student at WCHS who goes by BVNK$ in the music scene. He is a small-time artist and doesn’t have that much music out, but he has a unique flow, good lyrics, and messages in his songs. I was able to talk to him this week and ask him a few questions.

I started off by asking him what got him into music…

I think it’s an easy way to express myself and how I feel.

What do you use to record?

FL studios and sometimes Audacity.

What are some of your favorite musician’s people should check out and give a chance?

Lil Lotus, Lil Peep, Freddie Dredd, SMRTDEATH, SCARLXRD, Shinigami, and Zillakami.

How would you describe your sound?

It’s interesting–a mix between Grunge, trap metal, and emo rock.

What are some of the biggest problems you’ve had to overcome to far?

How to scream correctly without damaging my vocals cords permanently.

If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?

That’s a hard question, I would say, Marilyn Manson; he’s one of my personal heroes.

How did you come up with your name?

It’s just my last name spelled differently.

Do you sing in the shower? If so, what songs?

He laughed, then said, Fireflies by Owl City, Beautiful Nightmare by Lil Tracy, and Cute without the E by Taking back Sunday.

What else do you do enjoy besides making music?

Playing guitar, beat-boxing, and rhythm games.

Where do you record?

At my friend’s house for the most part.
