Dylan O’Brien is a 27-year-old actor known for his role as ‘Stiles Stilinski’ on the MTV teen drama Teen Wolf. The problem with that is, that’s mostly the only thing that he is known for. Now, don’t get me wrong, Scott McCall’s spastically sarcastic best friend is an iconic role that anyone would love to have, but what about Dylan himself?

O’Brien has been in multiple movies, playing a different character in each one, such as Thomas in The Maze Runner, a serious leader trying to save the world, Stuart Twombly in The Internship, a sarcastic college student trying to get a job at Google, Dave Hodgeman from the film The First Time, the sweet loverboy to the films other lead character Aubrey Miller (played by Britt Robertson), and more recently Mitch Rapp, an assassin from the film appropriately named American Assassin. His range is phenomenal, something a lot of actors struggle with. You never know what character Dylan O’Brien will play next, such as how no one expected it, but he voiced Bumblebee in the new Bumblebee film.

Besides that, the way he started his career is different from most. During his high school years, he just started a Youtube channel known as “moviekidd826” where he would post little skits and videos. While he meant for them to be funny and not taken seriously, he actually ended up being noticed and asked to become an actor. Straight out of high school and he was on to Teen Wolf.  He claimed he didn’t expect to become as successful as he did.

 Mostly, O’Brien is just considered to be a pretty great guy. Many fans who have met him claim he was the sweetest guy, able to make people comfortable and not even get annoyed if you approached him. Many of his costars in films or TV shows claim he is easy to work with, as well as able to brighten anyone’s day and light up a room. One of Dylan’s costars on Teen Wolf, Tyler Posey even spoke about him saying, “When I met Dyl, Before we booked the show, we were talking about moving in with each other. It just felt really right. It felt really cool,” He even went as far as to say, “I never really related with a lot of kids. But, he was wearing a DVS shirt. I was wearing a Hurley shirt; those are both skateboard brands. We were both in bands, we were both musicians, we had a lot in common with each other. We were both the same exact age, and it was just the greatest.”

Dylan is even known for avoiding drama, not starting anything as well as no one really wanting to start anything against him. Still, he isn’t afraid of speaking his opinion on a situation, such as the Logan Paul drama last January in which a dead body was wrongfully filmed and posted on Youtube. Dylan spoke out about the situation on Twitter, insulting the older Paul brother without any regrets.

In conclusion, Dylan O’Brien isn’t so much as underrated as he is considered one-sided. He is just typically known for one thing, the full picture of his capabilities overlooked by the many, as well as his originality. Though this is very opinionated, I would say he shouldn’t just be looked at as just another pretty face, but instead possibly Hollywood’s next big star!
