Carol O’Reel: A Life-Long Resident

A feature on Carol O'Reel who has been a member of the Woodford County community her whole life.

Carol O’Reel has lived in Woodford County her whole life; she raised four kids here and now has 9 grandchildren and 6 of them now live in Woodford County.  She graduated from WCHS with the class of ’72.


How long have you lived in Woodford County?

65 years.

Why did you choose to live in Woodford?

I was lucky enough to be born and raised here.

What is your favorite memory of Woodford County?

Raising my children in Woodford County.

What one of your favorite things to do in Woodford County?

Watching my children and their children play sports in Woodford.

What makes you smile?

My family.

What is your favorite activity/hobby?                                             

Shopping!

What does Woodford county mean to you? 

It’s been a huge part of my life; it is all I have ever known really and the greatest place to call “home” in the country. 

What is one of your favorite moments with your friends in Woodford County?

There have been quite a few but probably spending our school years together, ball games and dancing, building floats.

What would you say to people just moving to Woodford County?

It is a small community where neighbors help one another and it is a wonderful place to raise a family.

What are the funniest memories you have of Woodford County? 

Riding to E-Town in the back of a covered pickup truck with blankets with 10 friends to watch Woodford football win state.

What is one of your best stories from Woodford County?

My favorite story is when the boys’ baseball went to state and how the whole community came together to support them as well as last year when the girls’ softball won the region championship and just how the whole community came together.
