Former Afghanistan President Criticizes MOAB Bombing

"It is upon us Afghans to stop the USA..."

The US claimed recent MOAB bombing in Afghanistan has killed 90 members of ISIS. Hamid Karzi, a former Afghan President, has criticized the move, saying, “This is not the war on terror but the inhuman and most brutal misuse of our country as testing ground for new and dangerous weapons.” He went into a series of rants criticizing America’s role in his country. “It is upon us Afghans to stop the USA,” said Karzi. (Al-Jazeera, 2017)

Meanwhile, some local Afghan leaders have disagreed and support the attacks. One of them is the secretary of the provincial council in Nangarhar, Zabiullah Zmarai. “The attack was successful, and we are all happy, since there were no civilian casualties. Daesh [ISIS] was a huge threat to the people in Nangarhar. They are relieved they were finished off with one,” Said Zmarai (Yahoo News, 2017).

There have been many disagreements over the MOAB bombing. There have been numerous differing opinions from Afghanistan to here in the US. Although the intentions were correct, many also feel that it wasn’t appropriate in this situation. What’s your opinion?
