Seniors
The two seniors I interviewed are Jenna Butler and Cameron Young. Jenna Butler is a mellophone/french horn player and Cameron Young is a trumpet player. Jenna Butler has been playing mellophone for 5 years and french horn for 7 years. Cameron has been playing trumpet for 7 years.
Jenna wanted to do marching band because her mother did band when she was in high school.” I’ve been around instruments since I can remember since I was very small,” Jenna said.
“There is a night we do, called eight grade night, every year that when I went to that as an eighth grader it seemed pretty interesting and pretty fun so I signed up for it and I have been doing it since,” Cameron said.
Then I asked them, how would you describe competitions? “It’s like something you could never imagine, it’s something that you connect with people all around you, including the parents, the kids. It’s something that is once in a lifetime you have to be there to experience, you can’t really describe it very well,” said Jenna.
“I would describe competitions as a lot of fun and a display of what we worked on over the week,” said Cameron. For my last question, I asked them, what is your favorite part of the marching band? Jenna said, “The friends you make, cause they are lifelong most definitely.”
Cameron said, “My favorite part of marching band is, I’m going to have to say a tie between competitions and practices where we get a lot done or where we have a lot of energy during the practice.”
These two seniors help influence our band in mighty ways!
