Furry Friends of Woodford County
Lucy Childers, Staff Reporter
As my final project, I’ve decided to dive in to the world of man’s best friend. Woodford County has so many furry friends. I’ve used the well known book and social media pages titled Humans of New York written by Brandon Stanton as my inspiration. In my piece, I’ve used a collection of dogs from Woodford County and attached their personal profiles.
Jessie Bentley
“Humans call me Jessie. Humans sometimes call me Walnut. My favorite place to be is in front of the kitchen counter where everyone cooks. I always hope that my mom drops something. I really don’t like to go outside and run. My brother and I are really good friends. We like to lay around the house together. I’m supposed to be a bird dog but that requires going outside. I’m a good bird dog when...
Penelope Bentley
"Hello, I'm Penelope. I typically go by Peanut. I'm frequently made fun of for being "the ugliest dog" anyone has ever seen. Sometimes people say that my mom felt bad for me and that's the only reason she brought me home from the Woodford County Humane Society. Personally, I think I'm just fine. I just like to eat and sleep. What's wrong with that? Absolutely nothing! My mom is a teacher so my favorite...
Casandralesabel Karbach
"My real name is Casandralesabel and I really don't like people. I have three siblings: a cat named Nelly, a cat named Freddy, and a chicken named Shelly. Yes, the chicken comes inside. I don't let anyone take pictures of me. I'm just too pretty. I also get really annoyed when my mom, Sarah, lets her friends bother me. Like, please just stop touching me! I'm really short so I can't get on the bed without...
Cheerio Peterson
"My name is Cheerio and I'm obnoxious. I live with four girls and my parents. I'm a boy but I have to wear a sparkly collar because my sisters think it's funny. I do not. My family got me this summer and I was everyone's birthday present, basically. It's about to be my first Christmas and I am so excited! The big green thing in the living room is prickly but it has so many things to chew on it... I'm...
Eloise Bentley
"Hello, hello, helloooo! My name is Eloise and my mom is pretty sure I have puppy ADHD. I love attention! I never sleep, I always run, and my favorite spot is under your leg. No one knows what kind of dog I am. I think I'm a Coydog. That's a Coyote Dog. I'm five years old but my story is kind of complicated. My mom is a hippie basically so she was on a road trip with her friends. She was in Paris,...
Winnie Potts
"I'm Winnie and no one knows why I won't grow. I'm supposed to be a lot bigger than I am... My mom drove nine hours to Pennsylvania to get me in April. I'm a tan and white King Charles Cavalier. I don't like to go outside a lot because the grass literally touches my nose. I spend a lot of time with my brothers and sisters inside. We like to play games but really we just bark. Barking is my favorite....
Betsy Childers
"Hi, I'm Betsy. I'm some kind of Labrador mix from the Woodford County Humane Society. I was adopted back in March by a seventeen year old girl. She takes care of me all the time. Before I moved in with her, I was abused out on a farm. When I came into the Humane Society, I was injured, scared, and lonely. My life is so much better now. My mom has a lot of really cool friends that always come over....
Sage Waldock
"What's my name? Sage. I'm an Australian Shepard, and I believe that humans who keep dogs inside are the worst. Playing outside is my favorite thing to do. I tend to bark a lot, but it's just who I am. I'm frequently referred to as "fat." It's just fur. I'm also not grouchy all the time. People just think I am. My mom works in sales which means I get to go on a lot of car rides with her all over Kentucky....
Josie Bentley
"My name is Josie and I'm a white and tan English Setter. I'm originally from a private hunting lodge outside of Owenton, Kentucky. I live in a house with a big yard which means a lot of room to run. My dad frequently takes me hunting. I like to hunt the birds. There's something about the way they look. I'm not very fond of fishing. I don't understand it. Everytime the family goes fishing, I'm forced...
