What is the most important thing freshmen should know?
Freshman year is all about finding yourself. If you really think about it, you’re used to having your hand held. You’re used to having this sheltered environment and now you’re being thrown into a school with people ages thirteen to nineteen. It’s not an easy switch. Everyone has problems with the transition because it just isn’t easy. The most important thing a freshman should know? Put yourself first. To this day, my “pinned tweet” is still about how I wish I had put myself first freshman year. You’re in a new dating pool, don’t fall in if you don’t think you can swim. Dating in high school is okay but so many people fall into this obsession with dating older people. You are going to try and keep your same friends that you’ve always had, unrealistic. High school provides different activities and from those come different social groups. More than likely, your middle school friend group will drift their own way. School work is going to become heavier and the sports practices will become longer. But, you will make new friends. You will adjust to the work load and the practice times. But the point is, you can’t drift away from yourself. With all of the chaos and disruption of a new environment, it’ll be easy to drift away from your core values and beliefs. The best thing for you to freshman year is just to stay on your own path.
All the love.
