THE STUDENT NEWS SITE OF WOODFORD COUNTY HIGHSCHOOL

Lucy Dacus

I saw Home Video performed live on February 11. Lucy Dacus performed at the Promo West Pavilion in Newport, Kentucky.

Her performance was anything but conventional, seeing as she literally performed the whole setlist laying down on a couch. Two weeks before her tour was supposed to start, she developed two herniated disks. Nevertheless, she went on to perform her entire tour without hesitation.

Home Video was my top listened-to album for all of 2021 so getting to witness Lucy Dacus sing the words to some of my favorite songs was amazing.

  • The venue that the show was at was very beautiful. There were no seats so you have to get there early if you want to be in the front!

    '
  • The artist, Indigo de Souza, opened for Lucy Dacus. I had never heard her music before but as soon as she started playing her first song, Hold You, I was hooked on her music. She danced around the stage and interacted with the audience. By the time she was done with her setlist, everyone was energetic and ready to see Lucy Dacus!

  • Even though Lucy Dacus was laying down for the entirety of the show, she still captivated the audience with her amazing vocals and light-hearted spirit.

    '
  • During every song, the background screen would display a series of animations that matched the tone and story of the song. During the song VBS (Vacation Bible School), a bright silhouette of a young girl (presumably Lucy Dacus) in an alter.

    '
  • On the outside wall of Promo West Pavilion, there is a beautiful mural filled with unique designs and vibrant colors. I obviously had to take a picture in front of it. I wore a sweater vest with two dogs on it because one of my favorite songs on Home Video is called Triple Dog Dare!!

A couple of months ago, I wrote an album review for Home Video and featured some of the songs that I included in the video above. I caught the heavy metal feature in the song VBS, which I heavily mentioned in my other article. If you enjoyed this article, then I would highly recommend reading my album review!
