Taylor Sallee: Softball

Taylor Sallee is a part of the class of 2020 at Woodford County High School. Sallee has been playing softball for almost 15 years. The decision to play came easily from Sallee’s father who was a big baseball player therefore he introduced her brother and her to it and from then on it just stuck. So how about we get to know Senior athlete Taylor Sallee?
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Going undefeated and winning the Northern National Championship in 2016 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
What was your fondest memory of playing this sport?
Always being able to meet new people and form new one day friendships with girls from other states.
What position do you play? What is your number? Are you a Captain?
Shortstop, #3. We don’t really have captains, but we have leaders and I was more of a bigger leader because of where I was a senior.
What is your personal goal for this sport?
To be able to play it at the next level, and pursue it for another 4 years.
What foods or drinks help you gear up and stay energized for the game/event?
I always bring either a Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper and a bunch of chocolate for energy even though everyone says I have too much already, and I’m always called crazy for drinking a dark soda before a game.
What is the best part about competing?
The best part about competing is discovering your boundaries and limits you never knew you had and being able to push farther and discover more ways to better yourself.

What emotions do you feel when you play well?
The emotions I feel are always all over the place. I’m either so excited and upbeat that I’m smiling and laughing nonstop, or I’m more focused so I can see how much better I can play since I’m already playing good.
What is your favorite song to listen to prior to competing?
I have way too many songs to count omg… I can’t pick one at all. I listen to too many varieties, it just depends on who we play and how I’m feeling or if Kasey already started her concerts in the back of the bus.
What do you do to calm your butterflies while you compete?
I can never calm myself during a game. It usually goes away itself when I start getting more and more into it and after my first at-bat always factors into how I’m gonna feel the rest of the game.
How does athletics make you a better student or worker?
I believe athletics make me a better student because if I don’t do good in school, I can’t play and I always want to play so I always try to manage my time and sports equally in order to keep playing
What advice would you give your underclassmen?
Never take one game for granted. Take your time and see the good of the game and never give up. Because one day, you won’t have that game to go to anymore.
How has playing this sport affected you for your future?
This sport has affected me for my future by putting me in a D3 college where I can pursue my degree and my athletic career for another 4 years.
Where do you plan on going to school next year? What do you plan on studying?
I will be attending Transylvania University. I will be studying either Animal Biology or Early Childhood Education.
Who is your role model? Who do you look up to?
My mom, and how strong and determined she is.
If you were an animal what animal would you be? Why?
A dog because they get to eat, play, and sleep all day and get loads of attention.
