Tricks for Your Halloween Party
Toilet Paper Mummy
You’ve seen this game at assemblies. Why not try it with your friends? Separate into teams and give each team a roll of toilet paper. One person from each team will be the mummy. Set a timer for 30 seconds. I find the game is the best when rushed. The mummy will stand in the center of each team. Once the time begins, the mummy’s teammates wrap the mummy in toilet paper. The most covered mummy wins. Before the mummies shed their skins, feel free to take this as a photo opportunity.
Donut on a String
Yet another assembly favorite, Donut On A String is a competitive challenge with a delicious trophy. Tie a string around a donut and hang it from something. The players cannot use their hands and must eat the entire donut. The first player done is the winner. For a fall touch use apple cider donuts.
Stories
A big part of Halloween is the spooky part. Dim the lights, bring out the blankets and flashlights and sit in a circle. You can take turns telling scary stories. To add a competitive element get a spinner from a board game and place it in the center. Spin it and whoever it lands on tells a story. Or you can work together to tell a story. One person begins the story with a sentence. Then, the person seated next to them says the next sentence. The more the story spirals out of control the more fun you’ll have.
Painting Cans
All you’ll need for this activity are some empty cans and paint. Before you begin to paint, be sure to tear off the paper around the can and protect the surface you’re working on. Then, paint the cans with monsters and other creepy creatures. Let them dry and you’ve got some adorable decorations for next year. They can be used as Candles, Candy Jars, and more.
Knock Em’ Over
Using the cans you just painted and a tennis ball, you can have even more fun. Set the cans on a table in a pyramid. Take turns throwing the tennis ball at the cans and knocking down as many as possible.
Pin the Tail on the Cat
You’ve probably heard of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey,” but this game adds a wicked twist. You put a blindfold on one player at a time. On the wall, there is a picture of a black cat with no tail. The blindfolded player has a paper tail that matches the cat. Spin the blindfolded around three times to disorient them and point them towards the cat. They walk to the cat and place the tail where they think it belongs. The object is to get the tail as close to the cat’s rear end as possible. There also other Halloween related variations such as Pin the Mouth on the Jack-o-lantern, Pin the Skull on the Skeleton, and Pin the Wart on the Witch
