Every year when Christmas comes around, we all want the most perfectly decorated tree. Decorating a Christmas tree is a lot easier said than done. Yet, some of the best tips for a festive tree are the most simple ones. Let me show you how my family decorates our tree for the holidays.

When setting up your tree this year, you will definitely want a nice open space to set your tree up. In my family, we set our tree up in front of our window for everyone in the neighborhood to see as they drive by.

You want to make sure that you fluff and shape your branches. Fluffing your branches will add a fuller look that you want. Don’t hesitate to bend or pull on the branches to make them look just how you want them to. You want all the gaps to be filled and to be straight. The more properly shaped tree you have the more it is appealing to the eye.

You want to pick the right decorations that your family will all love. Whether it is floral picks, ribbons, pictures, or simple ornaments. In my family, we use a more shiny look. This is appealing and can make your tree pop and give it a brighter look for the holidays.

In my family, we add Christmas decorations to give the festive look for the holidays. This has been a tradition in my family for as long as I remember. It will most definitely make your tree look very festive. You can make your own decoration or simply buy what is interesting to you.

If you’ve ever made decorations for your tree when you were little or had them custom designed for you these kinds of ornaments can be a very good idea for your Christmas tree. Having decorations that have more of a sentimental meaning behind them can bring your family and yourself joy for the holidays every year.

In my family, we add baby pictures as decorations. Adding pictures of yourself as a baby is very fun and can simply give you memories of Christmas times when you were younger. If you don’t already do this, it can be a great Christmas present for your parents this year. They will truly adore it.

During the holidays, adding a ribbon to your tree can make your tree pop and colorful. My family chooses a golden, sparkly ribbon with snowflakes. It fills the tree in and makes it look more full and beautiful.

This year, my family chose white lights to go around our tree. It matched our decorations well and gave it more of the brighter look that we wanted. In your family, you can choose whatever color lights you want–colorful, blue and white for Kentucky, or just a color you think is appealing for your tree.

Every year, my family uses an angel to put on top of our tree. We have done this for generations and continuously do so. Many people like to use a star or a snow man’s hat. In my family, we take turns every year putting the angel on top of the tree. In your family, you can choose what you would like to put on your tree and make it a tradition while doing so.  Happy decorating!
